The Joy of Being Present

Do you ever feel like your mind is slipping away? Already caught up in tomorrow, or stuck replaying yesterday?

Are you constantly thinking about your next move? Or maybe you keep going over that one moment, that one mistake, wishing you could change it?

Yeah, me too. I’ve been there.

Lately, I’ve been learning the importance of being present. Just being. Knowing that it’s okay to live and not be stuck in your thoughts or constantly planning your next move.

God doesn’t want you focusing on tomorrow when He’s given you the gift of today. To live and to be at ease is a blessing.

Matthew 6:34

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

This verse has been a reminder that peace is found in the now. I don’t have to carry the weight of what’s ahead. I don’t have to replay my past. God continues to meet me in this moment, and that’s enough.

When we’re present, we begin to recognize the small ways God loves on us daily. An unexpected conversation from a stranger, a moment of laughter with family and friends.

This is the joy I’m learning to hold onto. Not the joy that’s based on what’s next, but the joy that lives in the now.

I’m not saying it’s easy, It takes practice to slow down and refocus when your mind is racing with thoughts. But I promise, every time I choose to come back to the present, I meet God there.

Recently, I’ve been meeting God in the slow starts to my mornings, in creating healthy habits, in doing the things that bring me joy. Even in pausing to breathe when I feel overwhelmed.

I encourage you to take a deep breath and challenge yourself to be present in all things. Don’t overthink, let your mind rest, and remember there’s joy to be found right here, in the present.

How much peace are you missing while your mind is stuck in tomorrow?
